Truck Driver May Be Linked to 10 Rapes, Murders

The DNA of a truck driver arrested in Lincoln, Nebraska for the beating and rape of a woman kidnapped from an Oklahoma City truck stop is being tested to determine if he may be linked to a series of 10 murders in seven states.

A regional task force has been investigating 10 unsolved murders in Oklahoma, Texas, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Indiana, Arkansas and Tennessee. Most of the cases involved prostitutes who were kidnapped from truck stops.

Carl Wayne Lawson, 32, of Lincoln, was charged this week with the attack on an Oklahoma City woman, who picked him out of a photo line-up. The victim told police that during her attack Lawson bragged about the other attacks. According to her statement, Lawson told her "The first 3-4 I killed -- it bothered me, but I kinda like it now."

Lawson is being held in Nebraska, awaiting extradition to Oklahoma, on charges of rape, kidnapping, and assault with intent to kill.
